Today's hero is Austin resident Avery Liardon. Avery, 12, took this great scimitar-horned oryx bull on the Bar H Bar Ranch near Lampasas. Avery was shooting a Kimber .308 when she took a rest off of shooting sticks and connected with the old bull at 150 yards. Avery is an accomplished huntress, taking her first deer at age 9, followed by a sika, Corsican ram, more whitetails and pigs.
