hobie2Kayak anglers are the fastest growing segment of the inshore fishing population, and they will join other boaters in several tournaments happening next weekend in Port Aransas.

Inshore anglers from the Texas Gulf Coast and surrounding regions will take to the coastal waters near Port Aransas on April 14-15 as the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela’s and IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing stage the first of two regular-season events for the IFA Texas Division.

The event, which will operate out of City Marina Dennis Dryer Municipal Harbor, will begin its activities on Friday, April 13, with tournament registration from 5-7 p.m. and a captain’s meeting to follow. Anglers will launch from City Marina at safe light on Saturday, April 14, and return to the marina for weigh-ins. Check-in times will be assigned at Friday’s captain’s meeting.

Competitors in the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing will have a registration from 6-7 p.m. with captains meeting to follow on Saturday, April 14 at City Marina Dryer Municipal Harbor. Anglers will launch Sunday, April 15 from the location of their choice.

In addition to a possible $60,000 in payouts per event (based on a 100-boat field), the first-place prize package for all 12 IFA Redfish Tour regular-season events remains extremely lucrative. In 2012, every regular-season tournament winner is guaranteed – regardless of field size – a fully loaded 2012 Ranger Banshee Extreme. The boat is powered by a 60-horsepower, four-stroke Yamaha outboard and is equipped with a Power-Pole shallow water anchor, Minn Kota trolling motor, Humminbird electronics, Blue Point Fabrication metal work, Bob’s four-inch Ultra Light Jackplate and a Loadmaster trailer. The entire first-place prize package is valued at $30,000.
