hobie-AUfishing-wo29A8622There’s no better location to have a championship fishing tournament than Texas.

The Hobie Fishing World Championship is coming to Austin November 4-9, bringing with it 43 anglers from 13 different countries vying for the world champion title.

The competition is being held on Lake Bastrop and Fayette County Reservoir, which both “hold the caliber of fish necessary for an international competition,” Hobie said in a press release.

Two Texas anglers will boast home-field advantage, including northeast Texas angler Rob Milam and Keeton Eoff of Abilene.

“It’s rare to assemble such a diverse group of anglers with unique skills and experience,” Eoff said. “Kayak fishing is truly a global sport and Hobie Cat and all our partners are excited about the impact this event has and will continue to have on the industry and the direction the sport is moving.”

All competitors will fish for largemouth from identically-rigged Hobie Mirage Pro Angler 12 kayaks, and the three fish bag will be measured by the catch, photograph and release method for each team’s three-day total.
