Sixteen Texas chapters of Ducks Unlimited recently were named to the President’s Top 100, a list of elite chapters in the nation. Texas chapters recognized are Mexia, Houston, Matagorda, Galveston, Sabine, Rockport/Fulton, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Texoma, Ellis County, Arlington, Big Thicket, McKinney, Winnie/Stowell, Wimberley and Lee County.
Every year, the list is reserved for the 100 chapters that raise the most grassroots dollars for DU’s habitat conservation work.
“The Texas staff and volunteers are a strong group who are focused on conserving their waterfowl-hunting heritage,” said David Schuessler, director of fundraising and volunteer recruitment for Texas DU. “The chapters are competitive, and they have a good time putting on great events.”
The 16 Texas chapters earned a spot on the President’s Top 100 list out of more than 3,500 DU chapters nationwide.
“I really feel that our volunteers in Texas understand the issues waterfowl populations are facing and how raising money for DU’s work continentally benefits everyone, including Texas,” Schuessler said. “I’m proud of these chapters and the men and women who work hard to organize these events."
