Southern Deer Stands abides by a simple standard when it comes to their hunting products. They believe they are king, especially when it comes to deer blinds.
Participation is free, and photos may be submitted digitally to Southern’s Web site or through the mail.
Company President Rob Griffin started the contest as a way for people to show off their unique deer blinds.
“As we have worked with clients, and in traveling across the country, everybody sort of has a story about the blinds they built,” Griffin said, “many times regardless of if they were good, bad or indifferent.”
A panel of celebrity experts will judge the photos, and three prize packages will be awarded before the start of upcoming hunting season.
Blinds will be entered in three categories: the best picture of a blind, the best story behind a blind and the most interesting design.
The contest began June 16 and ends Sept. 30. The three winners will be announced Oct. 2 on Cable Smith’s “Lone Star Outdoor Show.”
The grand prize package includes an NRA leather Jacket ($250 Value), 40 bags of Purina AntlerMax Deer Pellets, Custom Muzzle Break Rifle work from Mac’s Gunworks ($150 value), a camo clothing package, a one-year subscription to Lone Star Outdoor News, a Lone Star Outdoor News hat and decal and a copy of “Poachers, Crooks and Other Turkeys.”
The second grand prize consists of a five-year NRA membership ($125 value), custom rifle gun work ($150 Value), a camo clothing package, 20 bags of deer corn, a one-year subscription to Lone Star Outdoor News, a Lone Star Outdoor News hat and decal and a copy of “Poachers, Crooks and Other Turkeys.”
The third-place prize consists of a five-year NRA membership ($125 value), a custom bedding job with pillars rifle work from Mac’s Gunworks ($120 vlue), a camo clothing package, a one-year subscription to Lone Star Outdoor News, a Lone Star Outdoor News hat and decal and a copy of “Poachers, Crooks and Other Turkeys.”
Griffin said the contest has been well received by sponsors and the hunting community at large, and is an event he hopes to make an annual occurrence for Southern Deer Stands.
