With food, a deer auction, vendors and seminars, this convention has everything a deer enthusiast could want.
LSON Executive Editor Craig Nyhus and founder/CEO David Sams are in attendance at the Texas Deer Association’s 14th Annual Convention and Fundraiser at the JW Marriott in the San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, which started on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
LSON is representing the paper with a booth, one of about 200 that attendees can visit and interact with, according to Nyhus.
He said the turnout for the event has been strong.
“It’s pretty crowded, and it’s getting more crowded as the day gets closer to the dinner and Kevin Fowler concert,” he said.
TDA President Gilbert Adams III gave the president’s address at lunch. Those in attendance at the lunch included Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Executive Director Carter Smith, and Alan Cain, Statewide Program Coordinator for white-tailed deer.
Besides the seminars and booths, Nyhus said a big part of the convention is seeing friends and acquaintances that you don’t run into very often.
“A lot of people that don’t get to see each other very often get to catch up,” he said.
Vendors included several supporters and friends of Lone Star Outdoor News, see next pages for more photos.
