Lexington Varmint Tournament on tap this weekend

The Fifth Annual Lexington Lone Star Varmint Tournament will be held the this weekend, January 25–26.

The location of registration and turn in will be at the Lexington Memorial Park on Highway 77 in Lexington.  The hunt starts Saturday at noon and ends Sunday at 1 p.m. There is a maximum four-hunter team with a $100 entry fee.

Payouts are first place through fifth place.

The point system is 100 points for a mountain lion, 45 points for bobcats, 35 points for foxes, 25 points for coyotes and 5 points for raccoons.  There is a five-animal cap for each category.

The side pots are $5 each and the categories are heaviest bobcat, heaviest fox, heaviest coyote and mangiest coyote. This year, the contest will be giving away four guns and many other prizes.  All team members must be present to win.
