Lone Star Outdoor News, along with our friends at Nikon, have been awarding a free pair of binocs to a youth hunter with the best Hero shot for years. Now, we’ve opened up the competition to hunters of all ages!

This Nikon Giveaway promotion started in 2012, and 47 pairs of binoculars have been given by Nikon to fine shooting youngsters that took time to send in a picture of their trophy they were proud of.

“It was an idea we came up with to help promote the Nikon brand of Hunting Optics, and it has been very successful,” said Waylan Owens of Owens Outdoor Sales, who represents Nikon in the southern region of the USA.

Now, the promotion has been expanded, and is open to hunters of all ages.

“That doesn’t mean the kids won’t get a little extra preference, though. Nikon is all about supporting the future of our industry with our youth,” Owens said.

“Keep in mind, the contest is a photo contest, not a trophy contest and big is not always equal to great,” said David J. Sams, founder of Lone Star Outdoor News. “It’s nice to have a partner like Nikon who is so active in promoting hunting in Texas, with both kids and adults alike.”

Just send the best photo of you and your trophy to news@lonestaroutdoornews.com and we’ll feature the winner each month in the newspaper.
