David J. Sams founded the paper in 2004 as an extension of his career in wildlife and news photography. Sams partnered with his friend Craig Nyhus, a former lawyer and avid bird hunter, in 2006, making Nyhus the paper’s executive editor and publisher.
Under the pair’s leadership, circulation and advertising sales have risen to make the paper one of the most popular outdoors publications in the state.
