Houston Fishing Show coming March 5-9

by Lili Keys

Anglers across Texas should be looking to head to Houston next week for the 39th Annual Houston Fishing Show at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Along with hundreds of booths, attendees can attend seminars and talk to industry leaders.

Since inception, the Houston Fishing Show has served as a launching pad for some of the sport’s most significant innovations. Tubular fiberglass rods, free-spool reels and monofilament lines were barely introduced then, and the only thing electronic on the average fishing boat might have been a transistor radio.

This year’s show will be larger by some three dozen exhibits — among hundreds — and better than its predecessor, as always has been the case for the tens of thousands of fishermen who walk the aisles in search of new ways to do perform the simple but important act of catching fish.

And when they’re not handling this nearly endless selection of gear, they’ll be talking the subject with old friends and new, guides and outfitters and men and women who all share deep passion for bent rods and tight lines.

Texas’ economy continues to outpace that of the nation, and that’s been good for the tackle industry. Companies large and small continue to bank on Houston’s Fishing Show, literally and figuratively, as the premier place to introduce their latest product lines.

Texas Saltwater Fishing March 2, 2014 - 7:53 am

This is by far the most amazing show in Texas involving fishing. It’s jam packed full of information and the tackle and content is simply amazing. I go to the boat show every year and the fishing show beats that show to me.
