Texas Fishing Report: Trout waist-deep at Seadrift

Computer problems set Capt. Nathan Beabout back, but he was still fishing.

Over the past few days, northeast winds turned the surf on in the Seadrift area, followed by the return of the south wind that stained up the south shoreline.

“The fishing has been excellent,” Beabout said. “We are still caught up in a higher than normal tide, and the trout we have found are holding in waist-deep water.”

Trout were caught on top-waters, Softdines, and paddletails in plum/chartreuse, pumpkinseed and red/white. The sizes of the fish ranged from 18-20 inches, with some trout caught up to 25 inches.

The redfish bite tapered off.

“I think that might be due to the heavy boat traffic over the weekend,” Beabout said.

The good news? His computer is working and the website is back online, and he still has some dates available in June and July.
