  • Schooling activity has increased in the mid lake area where oversized redfish are grouped up in good numbers
  • Speckled trout have been solid along the Louisiana shoreline on soft plastics under Coastal Corks and swim baits
  • The live bait bite at the jetty is good for redfish, black drum, and sheepshead.

Chuck Uzzle, Wakes N Drakes Guide Service: (409) 697-6111

Galveston/Trinity

  • Run off from recent rains will have minimal effect on fishing
  • Fishing is good in both bays
  • Lots of solid fish up shallow
  • Water clarity is still holding good along the protected shorelines
  • KDen soft plastics with chartreuse tails rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads are producing both speckled trout and redfish
  • Bolivar surf has been good when the wind allows

East Matagorda

  • Speckled trout in the 4-pound class being caught while drifting shell in 5- to 6-feet of water on Bass Assassins and Hogies

  • Good numbers of trout on shell reefs in 2- to 5-feet of water on live shrimp and white Gulp shrimp under Coastal Corks

  • Flounder are also showing up on windy sides of back lakes on Gulp shrimp fished under corks
  • Drum have been fair to good on shrimp under popping corks on shallow shell in West Matagorda

Glenn’s Guide Service: (979) 479-1460

Rockport

  • Recent cool fronts and the addition of much needed rain will make fishing inconsistent for a short period until the clarity returns
  • Reds are fair on cut mullet and crab near deeper breaks
  • Speckled trout bite is below average due to water clarity
  • Live shrimp under popping corks has been the most consistent pattern

Norm Charlton: (361) 463-8986

Baffin Bay

  • Redfish along the shorelines are good as high water moved bait into the grass
  • Speckled trout have been good with many fish over the 20-inch slot being caught in 2- to 3-feet of water and deeper
  • Top-water plugs over sandy bottom have been catching fish
  • Several speckled trout in the 7- to 9-pound class have been caught recently by waders targeting bigger rafts of mullet
  • Dark-colored soft plastics and sub surface lures are enticing bites
