Sabine Lake
- Current water temps are 90 to 91 degrees with clear water
- Fishing for speckled trout remains consistent in deeper water near the channels
- Live bait has been the best bite overall for both numbers and size
- Redfish are good near the jetty on live shrimp, both on the bottom and under rattling corks
- Black drum and sheepshead are also good near the jetty
- The beachfront and short rigs have been fair when the wind allows
Galveston / Trinity bays
- Bays are around 88 to 89 degrees with off-color water
- Speckled trout fishing has been slow due to the heat and water clarity
- Beachfront conditions deteriorated when the west wind switched to east and that will take a little time to clear up
- Inshore the best bite for speckled trout and redfish has been on open water over shell using soft plastics rigged on 3/16- or 1/18–ounce jig heads.
- Wading anglers are reporting lots of sharks, so take that into considerationÂ
East Matagorda Bay
- Water temp is 86 degrees
- Trout action is good over deep reefs on live shrimp
- Waders have found good trout while using MirrOlure She Pups and soft plastic Hogie’s over mid-bay reefs
- Tides have rebounded with the shift to easterly winds
West Matagorda Bay
- Overall fishing picked up with fresh southeast winds
- Beachfront conditions allowed for a good bite when the winds subsided
- Best bite for trout and redfish has been fishing deep reefs with live shrimp and pink or orange shrimp imitation lures under popping corks
- Redfish have also been fair on live or cut bait
Rockport
- Overall water condition is good with temps of 87 to 89 degreesÂ
- Black drum fishing has been excellent on both live and dead shrimp
- Speckled trout and redfish have been good in deeper water over shell
- Live croaker and soft plastics are getting the most action O
Baffin Bay
- High water temps (90 degrees and up) and clear water have slowed the bite down for speckled trout
- Best bite has been early in 2- to 3-feet of water along grass edges
- Throw paddle tail soft plastics or slow-sinking mullet imitating plugs
- Redfish have been a prime target for sight casters as the water clarity is outstanding and the numbers of fish are good
South Padre Island
- Water temps are in the upper 80s
- Solid redfish and trout bite being reported
- Live shrimp under a popping cork fished near the bottom has been working
- Top-water bite is decent before the sun gets up
- Focus on deeper structure later in the day
