It’s showtime in Texas! The Texas Hunters Extravaganzas are back

by Lili Keys

Hey, Texas Hunters and Outdoor Lovers. Look up! It’s showtime in Texas! The Trophy Hunters Extravaganzas are coming next month in August. Yes, that’s right. Mark your calendars for August 6-8 in Houston; August 13-15 in Fort Worth; and August 20-22 in San Antonio. These shows, known far and wide as the “Grandaddy of all Hunting Shows” is sponsored by the Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA).

The 2021 shows will be better than ever, with Gator Country and their big alligator show; 3-D Archery Competition; Doug’s Rattlesnakes; Catch Fish Tank; and a two-year TTHA Deer Competition. There are rumors of a bull session with James “Dr. Deer” Kroll, TTHA Founder Jerry Johnston, and Journal Editor and wildlife biologist Horace Gore. This “round table” bull session, which will be open to everyone on the floor, is sure to be full of spirit!

New this year to the show will be an interactive main, center stage with live interviews, seminars, giveaways, podcast, and more! The main floor will be full of non-stop energy and fun activities.

The Gator Country show featuring all kinds of alligators will thrill both young and old. The 3-D Archery Competition will test the archery skills of hopeful entrants, and all shooters will win exciting prizes, so test your archery skills on the 20-target course.

Doug will be there with his rattlesnakes, showing the daring-do of the big rattlers, and milking the venom of some mean snakes. Young and old will enjoy the snake shows, and Kids will test their fishing skills at the Fish Tank full of catfish. Catch a fish and win a prize!

Texas Trophy Hunters will have a new book for sale at the Extravaganzas. “Texas Trophy Hunters—Under One Cover” is a great new book about TTHA and many of the past

Features, Stumps and Blasts that you will want to share with your friends. The photographic art of Marty Berry, and his Journal covers for the past few years will amaze you. Get your copy at any of the Extravaganzas. Christmas 2021 is not far away, and this book makes the perfect gift.

Of course, a big attraction at each Extravaganza is the Annual Deer Competition, featuring some of the biggest whitetail and mule deer bucks you will ever see. This year’s shows will have competition between hunters for both 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, so the competition will be keen.
