Texas Bighorn Society loses longtime board member

by Lili Keys

Patricia Jane Holloway was born on June 11, 1938 in Ringold, Texas. She went to be with our Lord on Monday January 20.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, nana and had a unwavering faith in God.  She was a Life Member of Texas Bighorn Society where she served in numerous positions and on their Board of Directors since its inception.  Her passion for restoring Desert Bighorn Sheep to Texas was never ending and was passed on to three more generations of Holloway’s. She was a sponsor for the Wounded Warrior Fishing Tournament for the last 3 years where she hosted an amazing fish fry at her house for the warriors.  These are just a few of her favorite charities that she was actively involved in.

She and Gene retired to San Carlos, Mexico and have resided there for the last 13 years where she was currently serving on the board of the San Carlos Rescate and was a bereavement consultant. She loved sharing her “Mexican Paradise” with her family and friends. She was a long time member at Smithfield Church of Christ, Heritage Church of Christ in Keller, Texas and Community Church in San Carlos, Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her parents Pete and Opal Lemons of Montague, Texas.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years Marvel Eugene “Gene” Holloway of Fort Worth, Texas, her daughter Chryste Denise Whisenhunt and her husband Gary, son Lynton Vess Holloway and his wife Wendy. Pat is survived by four grandchildren Taylor Coffman, Nolan Whisenhunt, Hunter Holloway and Trace Holloway.  She has one great granddaughter Brighton Coffman and also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
